Spot on.

They are some profitable scalpers out there but I for one can't deal with the noise.

Like when we were kids and liked a steady diet of Aerosmith or Guns & Roses and a 6 pack. Now my tastes have improved and I like Boney James, David Benoit or Spyro Gyra and a great bottle of wine.

Well, I just noticed that there was a seamless transition amongst those who used to bitch about "program trading" to those who bitched about "HFT", so clearly these were just people who didn't know how to trade, but knew how to find a scapegoat.

Plus, from a practical perspective, I pay retail commissions, so I need my winning trade size to be big enough such that the commission plus slippage, which fortunately is minimal on the ES, is a small percentage of the overall trade. If I'm scalping for two ticks or a point on the ES, that's not going to cut it. My average winner is more like 7 points and that's about where I'd like to keep it.

Learning about harmonics. That was an interesting time for me. I had just acquired all of Gann's material in public domain at a considerable cost. When you came to ET you had not yet perfected CVB charts, you were with Ensign at the time. It was amazing to watch the evolution take place, gave lots of people lots of idea. Jack, who had at ET for awhile was just on the trail of degapping charts. A robust system must be harmonically sound, and no other traders had talked about this or posted work to be falsified since Gann himself. Especially not for free. ET's glory days was a good time to be on this site. It truly is unfortunate that dogma stands in the way of progress for some.

There's a guy in CA named Joel Carter you need to talk to. He's a jazz musician that writes and teaches music based on harmonics of all kinds of things. He a brilliant guy. He's a student of Joseph Schillinger. You will appreciate the direction. Let me know when you have some free time and I will put the two of you together.

It would be more accurate to say some successful traders prefer TA and some prefer PA.. but both are seeing beyond the mere indicators and res/supp lines.. a good trader takes either of those techniques and sees beyond them even if he isn't aware of it.. if he doesn't then he's the 95% of fodder we feed off

IMHO PA & TA are more closely related than TA is to FA.

For me TA is simply the way I confirm PA. That definately isn't the way all see it but then I don't like PB&J, just PB. :D
 
PA is a form of TA, IMO.
