I don't know what it is about this forum that people just don't like learning new information especially if is against what they think they already know.
My point was that the few people I speak to in charge of their investment banking sections in Asia and Australia are putting all of their effort into steady profit making vehicles not new research. Quants in their divisions are also looking at variations but not anything cutting edge. I never mentioned any politicians either. I only mention names to show that the individuals I'm getting my information from are credible. Unlike your response of "cause I said so".

For the most part I like hanging out here because there are actually individuals here that offer some unique viewpoints, new information and stimulating conversation. I'm a sponge. I like learning new stuff or getting new information to study and check out. It is a shame that others here simply come here to argue and pick fights.

I agree with your other comment that it would be great if there were a section here that was paid so it would weed out the riff raff. I doubt that will ever happen. Baron isn't interested in providing a quality and respectful place for traders or investors to interact. All he cares about is providing cages where he can throw as many people as he can and then pump in flamers to increase the page views.

ET is not for investors. it is for traders. I have never heard of a place where traders meet as having being deemed to be respectful.
show me 1 trading floor where traders are respectful. respectful traders is an oxymoron.

as to weeding out the riffraff ET provides the necessary tool. it is called the ignore button. remember one person's riffraff is to someone else a catalyst to look at a problem/issue in a new way.

ET is a for profit business. why criticize his business plan. my guess is that the ET frachise has increased substantially in value in recen t years.

I would not equate threads with cages.

lastly there is a chapter in a book called time compressed trading which expounds on the theme that TA is hogwash.

I know it isn't for investors, its a traders forum. Appreciate the nudge.
I appreciate the fact too that individuals look at issues in a variety of different ways. Many times I have learned, in forums or blogs, a new more efficient way to solve an old problem that has been a real cost savings.

There are a lot of threads in this forum that are quality places to hold an intelligent conversation. Places where a difference of opinion is OK and people actually learn and openly discuss their opinions. Not all threads are thug infested. It seems that the Technical Analysis threads are though. I imagine this is because those that are against it are either individuals that have failed using it, have never used it or don't know how to define it. Just an opinion. The thugs come in for no other reason than to piss on those of us that simple trade it and use it profitably. You know, I can't tear down and rebuild an engine but I sure wouldn't tell the mechanic that could, he is an idiot for thinking he has found a better way to do it.

As far as Baron using "flame throwers", all I will say is that he has allowed and is allowing those who have been found to be flamers to continue to post on this website. Even going as far as allowing banned individuals who created multiple alias for the shear act of flaming back on this site. What other benefit would there be to promoting arguments on this site? You can have a quality site in other ways than promoting pissing contests.

Baron could very easily open a special section where you could pay a $1 a month on a credit card. He could still maintain this flame board section but provide a section where reasonable intelligent traders could share ideas without being subjected to being harassed and bullied. This isn't a criticism of his business plan but a suggestion to improve the quality of the site. I'm a business owner and understand how the process works. I can also see when an easy problem to solve is purposely ignored and the potential reasons for it being ignored.
