I can't imagine getting depressed if I had unlimited money and unlimited time/freedom, although I am aware that it happens (lots of celebrity kids born into extreme wealth for example). Does it happen to lottery winners too, who have maybe spent the last 30 years stacking shelves in a supermarket or something?!!
Just seems odd to me. I'd be as happy as a pig in $hit!!

She was very happy, and their daughter (13 years at that time) was very happy too. Their life was horrible with this man. The daughter received a court order that she did not have to visit her father unless she wanted. Why not try this experiment : save up ( as of your statement) to be able to have basically live three years just hobbying.

When I was about 19, I lived off of a lump of money that was left to me for a few years. I did nothing but wake up late, party, play videogames and watch TV, Took holidays etc etc.Why not try this experiment : save up ( as of your statement) to be able to have basically live three years just hobbying.
It was pure bliss and I could have lived like that for eternity if only the money didn't run out!

You cannot judge on something you don't know. That is your problem.
When I was between 30-40 I was fed up with working day and night, so I sold the two businesses that I still had and decided not to work anymore. The first years was very good because I did all the things that I could never do before:
- Christmas shopping with wife and children in London
- A few times to Disneyland
- Taking short vacations to other countries
- ....
My children were young and had to go to school every day, so I could not take long holidays. All my friends were working all day, like most normal people do. So could not meet with tem too. I did already a few times all the things thzt I missed while working....
After 5 years not working I decided to find a parttime job to be busy at least some hours every day.
Much depends of your personality.

I find it interesting the activities you listed that brought you happiness:
- party
- woke up late
So that's really nightlife lifestyle living
- videogames
- watchTV
I still have to understand the psychology of happiness that comes from there
- took holidays : what did you do? all the continents? how did the holidays go ( group touring,...)?

Maybe it's more to do with some people (such as myself) never get bored.
I can always find something to do to amuse myself.
But I talk from experience, too. I had a number of years living like that (like I told smallstops). Maybe the difference is that you say you missed things about work, wheras for me, I've detested every 'job' i've ever had. Makes me feel extremely depressed.
As you say, I think it just depends on your personality.
Also, some people want to 'work' for reasons other than money. It seems to fullfill other 'needs' that I guess I don't seem to have!

Holiday wise, in those 3 years I went to Greece for a week, sampling the girls and the nightlife.
I went to Ibiza and done the same (this time with lots of friends)
I went to Canada and stayed with my brother for a few weeks and relaxed by their pool
I went to the Cayman Islands for a few weeks and again just took life very easy. (Amongst a few other places )
