TD Ameritrade Follows IBKR, Schwab, Introduces $0 Commissions for Online Stock, ETF and Options

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: AMTD) announced today that its U.S. brokerage firm will eliminate commissions for its online exchange-listed stock, ETF (domestic and Canadian), and option trades, moving from $6.95 to $0, effective Thursday Oct. 3, 2019. Clients trading options will now pay $0.65 per contract with no exercise and assignment fees.

So according to the article, on options like SPX, TDA charges no commission, only 65 cents regulatory fees. That's competitive, even more than IB.
 
My existing option rate is less, but I get free shares so great.

Finally, should be $0 instead of $0.65 tho but I guess the SPX, NDX, RUT etc are more pricey?

Robinhood doesn't offer those at all. Curious why. I think FirsTrade offers those for free tho
