taxman spying on your house via satellite

Quote from LEAPup:

I disagree.

I don't want the government or local governments invading my privacy over some damn swimming pool that was or was not installed with some piece of paper being stamped called a permit! WOW!

Let's say I live above you on a hillside. I decide to rent some equipment and build a pool myself (I got the plans on the Internet).

Wouldn't you want a county inspector to look at it and pass it so it won't come crashing and spilling into your home office whilst you are daytrading?

ETA: OTOH I wanted to have a deck built a few years ago. It was nearly impossible to find a licensed contractor who would file plans and get a permit. I found one who wanted $30,000 for a simple deck. I went with another guy who did it for $8,000, sans permit.

the internet has changed everything,

there are no more far away places

there are no more deep down south locations, or remote mountain areas, or beach hide-away's

there are no more secrets

come to think of it, anyone remember the movie with Robert Redford, called "Sneakers
