Tax thought..actually should go to the front page

Quote from tango29:

Why in the hell is paying for tax software acceptable,

its the cost of doing business. whats $70 anyhow in order to simplify my life? it costs me more than that to fill my gas tank.

Quote from Clubber Lang:

I put that moron Free Thinker on ignore a long time ago. Sadly, sometimes I still see his posts when quoted.

Guy really is a functional retard. Can't comprehend a single paragraph without going off on some nonsensical tangent.

After reading a few of his posts, I will have to do the same...and tango.

Feel free to put me on ignore. It won't break my heart. I would ask to say why? I believe our tax code is beyond stupid. Yet, I call and I get representatives who agree, but it doesn't change. Yet we reelect these same bought and paid for tools. I guess I must be wrong.

If you're so discriminating a reader why don't you have Clubber on ignore?

I agree with most of your points. They are very reasonable (in particular the part about the CPA's various lobbyists who have no problem with a more complex tax code). After all, it's more billable hours.

Free Thinker isn't concerned with providing meaningful replies to your posts. He's all about starting threads with various cut and paste articles that just push his tired agenda.

If you are saying I am Freestinker, I have no answer other than I am not. I will close the thread with asking people who think the code is crap to call their Representatives and tell them so. I can close with that and be happy. I wish it made feel like people would, but I guess I know better also.
Peace to all who do call

Who accused you of being Free Thinker?

It might help if you actually quoted whomever you are addressing in your replies.

I saw an analysis a while back that showed that if all personal deductions are are eliminated, the following rates will bring tax revenues to 20% of GDP. (Currently they're about 18%)

1) Tax all wages at 10% plus FICA taxes (no salary cap limit).
2) Tax all dividends and interest at 15%.
3) Tax all corporate profits at 20%.

Unfortunately, I lost the reference for the study. If I find it, I'll post it.

I guess I have reached my limit of tolerance for the tax code. I am posting here, but I think it could go into a topic that would fall on the front page, and should. I think those of you who think the idea that it would be to complex to reduce the code to simple percentages at various dollar levels are complete idiots. Remove all deductions, and allow only simple brackets. My guess is lawyer CPAs and CPA groups have too much money invested to let it happen, but that is where you need to stand up for your country and tell them, as well as the rest of the special interest groups to go to hell! I know I have deductions for: property taxes, medical, having kids( are you kidding!), charitable contributions( won't go down at a reasonable rate), saving for retirement( because why would I otherwise, as SS will be there forever...ROFL!). What do our genius politicos cut taxes on the past couple of years? Well, obviously the program that is well underfunded and that they both use to cry to the constituents. Social Security tax! Really, it is going bankrupt so these ass clowns cut the contribution as opposed to something that would create jobs, and yet the people go U rah rah and reelect these same clowns, from both parties year after year.
What the hell is wrong with you people? I get I maybe too simplisitc, or maybe it is too simplistic, and a bunch of turds that have more to lose from having the code simplified have that much more money to buy Congress.
Love to hear the arguements against a simplified code, as they always miss the point, but go ahead.
Thanks

I'm with you, brother Tango.
When does the march on Washington begin?
