There is no such thing as a "tape reading chart" The tape is the tape.

This is from Wyckoff:

"Tape Reading is gauging the momentary supply and demand in particular stocks and in the whole market, comparing the forces behind each and their relationship, each to the other and to all.

A day trader is like the manager of a department store; into his office are submitted hundreds of reports of sales made by the various departments. He notes the general trend of business -- whether demand is heavy or light throughout the store but lends special attention to the products in which demand is abnormally strong or weak. When he finds it difficult to keep his shelves full in a certain department or of a certain product, he instructs his buyers accordingly, and they increase their buying orders for that product; when certain products do not move he knows there is little demand (or a market) for them, therefore, he lowers his prices (seeking a market) to induce more purchases by his customers.

A floor trader on the exchange who stands in one crowd all day is like the buyer for one department in a store -- he sees more quickly than anyone else the demand for that type of product, but has no way of comparing it to what may have strong or weak demand in other parts of the store. He may be trading on the long side of Union Pacific stock, which has a strong upward trend, when suddenly a decline in another stock will demoralize the market for Union Pacific stock, and he will be forced to compete with others who have stocks to sell.

The Tape Reader, on the other hand, from his perch at the ticker, enjoys a bird's eye view of the whole field. When serious weakness develops in any quarter, he is quick to note the changes taking place, weigh them and act accordingly."

I appreciated you PMing me on handgun advice a while back under a previous nick of mine. Even there, while your advice was solid, in my particular situation and needs, It was not optimal.

I'm not a handgun "expert"... nor any kind of gun expert. But I have qualified Expert Marksman with a battle rifle on a military range 4 times... once with an M-14* and 3 times with an M-16. I've got me some hand guns... hope I never need to use them.

* That was on the 400 meter range at Ft. Carson, CO. The recoil kept kicking the receiver up into my lip so that it was not only swelling but actually split. Near the end I was shooting with blood running down my cheek, but as I knew I was on pace to qualify Expert, I kept "taking it". (In case you didn't already suspect, I like to win at stuff.)

That's Market Profile. Many traders who use market profile or volume profile charts use them in conjunction with the tape/time and sales data. As price trades into a previously accepted or rejected price level they will focus in on the tape for certain behavior confirming the expected reaction. Similar to what @KCalhoun stated about the LOD and HOD.

Sry offtopic but re handguns I like my sig226 9mm alot more than my glock22 40cal. Like my Remington 12ga pump tactical. Miss my charter arms bulldog 44cal revolver.

Re tape reading it's best used at hod lod vs inside ranges--- Big tip there

I never owned a gun, and actually, still don’t. At the time, I was looking at a 9mm single stack for greater concealability and potentially better second shot performance for a less experienced user. If I recall correctly, the Sig226 was a larger handgun than I wanted, but I did hear great things about the brand.

Nowadays, I’d feel naked only having two Uzis, Rambo style, with a single belt of clips!

The hits keep coming but pace has slowed indicating a possible pause or bounce though not yet a reversal.

Charting and tape reading are not the same thing. Tape reading is much more valuable than data plotted on a chart. And I find charts invaluable. Put the two together and you really have something special.

Tape reading is not T&S, and it is not level 2. It is judging the market by its own action based on the transactions as they appear on the tape in terms of price and volume. Pace of trade is another little appreciated characteristic of market activity to which most pay little to no attention.

Just wondering what scanner program you using there?
Thanks
