What I see here is the Deep State faked those tanker attacks and when that didn't produce the desired result, they sent a drone into Iranian space and probably did it in a way that insured it would be shot down. I hate to think what they will do next if this doesn't produce a war.

Another Gulf of Tonkin? Maybe, maybe not. Here's what I think. Trump has himself in a jam. When Obama drew his line in the sand and then did nothing when the line was crossed Trump effectively called him a pussy. He has campaigned hard on that and his willingness to kick ass when necessary. Now we have the Tanker attack and Trump saying they best watch their step, put on notice, he will take action. Now they shoot down a drone. Okay Donald, what-cha gonna do now...pussy out like Barrack? We all know that Trump has an ego the size of Montana and if he thinks his "manhood" will be questioned, well, the bombs will drop. Guess we'll see how level headed he is, or isn't. It's a Seminole moment in his presidency.
 
That is the beauty of drones. No personnel injured or killed so the US isn't really compelled to attack. Just send up more.

Oh, and its pretty clear the drone was shot down in international airspace over the Strait.

I hope Iran keeps up the shenanigans. I cannot wait to see them hammered, not gonna lie.

so the measure for his success as a president is how stupid he is to start another war in the middle east or not?? Obama brought the whole international coalition together to delay/stop the Iranians from the acquring nuclear arsenal. diplomacy is not pussying out, it is the smart and peaceful way to deal with the issues.
how many people died in Afghanistan over the past 18 years for us to sit at a table with the fucking Taliban (the same motherfuckers that we went to war to eradicate in the first place)?

Some Americans are slow learners, especially the guys too old to be conscripted into the army. We don't have to like Iran to understand they are not the aggressors in all of this. As long as Trump is in power, there is some danger to everyone, irrational vain leaders are rarely a good thing they can only be contained not controlled.

One, the line in the sand I was referring to was in Syria where the Obama administration failed miserably. Two, it's extremely unlikely that the Iranians are adhering to any treaty or agreement. Three, the Obama administration failed miserably in mid-east foreign policy on multiple levels. Four, multiple administrations failed in Afghanistan, including the Obama administration. Five, yes it is a pivotal moment in the Trump presidency. The left cannot call him "unhinged" is he handles this in a way that doesn't take us to war.

I'm sure the administration feels it is necessary to respond. The difficulty is formulating a response that does not overtly seek to kill or harm IRGC personnel. Even if we hit a few radar installations along the coast, or SAM sites, likely someone is going to be killed.

Do you respond to the destruction of a unmanned device by killing folks? Not sure I know the answer to that.

Btw, I worked on Global Hawk and have participated in flight operations on console.

Seriously? That does sound awfully high for a device that apparently can't defend itself or elude missiles. I fear we have built a military that is useful only for bullying small third world countries. Our brass could be in for a rude awakening if they faced a sophisticated foe. We depend heavily on WW II-style naval power. How long would those ships last in a war against Russia or china? Five minutes?
