OK, letâs cut the crap, and get serious â if only for a moment. From my point of view, one of the joys of writing this crap is the fact that any number of people believe it. As I have stated before, some of this stuff is absolutely true. Some of it has roots in the truth, and some of it is pure fabrication. And that is all I will ever admit to. You are free to believe whatever pleases you.
But that is not why I called this meeting. I called it to talk about my latest adventure â the CCI, as taught by Woodie. Iâve known of him for a while now, and even visited his room some months ago looking for material. But it was a thread that ran here maybe two months ago that really caught my attention. In the finest ET tradition, it quickly turned ugly, with passionate supporters, and vile spewing detractors. But it peeked my curiosity. Enough so that I went back â only this time not looking for material.
So, what did I find? One very interesting approach to trading the market. Itâs not as easy at it first appears. In fact, itâs very hard to really learn. There is MUCH more to it then first meets the eye. The actual signals are easy to learn, but there is something referred to as ânuanceâ that is the key. Nuance is difficult to explain. In itâs simplest form, it boils down to knowing when to take a trade, and when to look the other way. While there is a ton of material available at
www.woodiescciclub.com on the basic method, there is almost nothing on this nuance stuff. And that is probably the reason many (most?) people who come into the room walk away disappointed â and convinced that itâs all a bunch of crap.
So what gives? Why wonât Woodie and the gang part with the secret? Well, there ainât no secret. When you are ready, they will freely talk to you for hours about the finer points â but you gotta be ready. That means that you have to have done your homework sufficiently enough to be able to ask intelligent questions. Or swift enough to realize when the beans are being spilled in the room. On top of that, I suspect that if you studied this stuff for 25 years you would still be picking up on new things â new nuances.
Another problem for new members is that many are looking for a cut and dry system One with specific entries, exits, and stops. But thatâs not what this is about. It is subjective, VERY subjective on all counts. In addition, it can be traded short or long term. As an example, there are players who are only looking for perhaps as few as 5 YM points. I, on the other hand kinda like 20, 30, 50 or more. So the scalpers will take signals I turn my nose up at. This is one area where that word ânuanceâ comes in to play.
But why am I telling you all of this? Well, there is little if any Woodieâs CCI talk on this board â the gang donât be thinkinâ a whole lot of this place, so while they lurk, they donât post. Secondly, I am taking a long hard look at it. I am impressed with what I see â but still lack the confidence to go balls to the wall with it. So â
if there is real interest, Iâll bring you along on the journey. I am not in a position to explain or defend the method â donât try to engage me in a debate. All I am prepared to do is to post an occasional chart, saying this is what I saw, this is what I did or didnât do. And when the mood strikes me, Iâll post the more usual nonsense we have all come to know and love (except for one past journal writer who is pissed that I have so many more âviewsâ than he does).
OK, thatâs the story. Weâll see where we go from here.
