tampa's Revenge

Quote from tampa:

I’ve reached a stage, a point, a crossroads – whatever you want to call it – in my “career”, and I don’t know if I should be happy or sad about it.

For most of the time I’ve been at this, I firmly believed that I was just a book, or a seminar, a software program, or maybe even a chat room away – away from making it. Of course deep down inside I knew better, but a person can hope, can’t he?

I believed that some kind soul would tell me how it’s done – divulge all the secrets. Along the way I ran in to a snake oil salesman or two, a few people who’s ideas were so convoluted I never understood what they were saying, and probably more than a handful who had good intentions and something worthwhile to pass on.

I remember ordering books, and all but standing out by the curb waiting for the FedEx truck to come by – or signing up for a seminar, and counting the days until it began. But I can’t remember “discovering” the secret – the surefire, can’t miss secret. A reasonable man would have concluded that it was all a waste of time, effort and money – and maybe it was.

I guess there really isn’t any secret to it – aside from hard work and common sense. In some ways that’s disillusioning – in others it’s like being set free. That old grump who threw me out of his room was always saying “find something that speaks to you.” He’s right of course. It sounds a bit simplistic, but it’s undeniably true.

So I’ve reached that stage, that point, that crossroads that should have been obvious a long time ago – the realization that at some point you have to stop looking for help, and just rely on yourself to finish putting the puzzle together.

It’s at once liberating and at the same time frightening – but it’s the way it is…

Just thinking out loud...

1. Woodie touts E-Signal as the best around; Tampa uses E-Signal and says he knows of none better.

2. Woodie says you don't need to look at prices; Tampa says the sooner you learn to trade without prices the better.

3. Woodie says, "master the ZLR"; Tampa says the three most important setups are ZLR, ZLR and ZLR.

4. Tampa is tormented by a shrewish wife who harangues him about his trading; Woodie has Gio.

HMMMMMMMMM.......

"Curiouser and curiouser", said Alice.

Great stuff Tampa. Funniest one yet.

I need some guidance here - am I supposed to deny and protest, or what?

Please advise...

If you're really suggesting that Tampa is Woodie in drag, well forget it - the woodsters command of the language is not exactly up to Pulitzer standards.

BUT, woodie does have ghost writers - how do you think he wrote that TASC article on ghosts? So now we know why he keeps saying "gotta love da ghosts."

Easy there, easy. sarcasm isn't your strong point.

BTW - ain't you the guy who swore off trading to devote his time and efforts in the on-line poker arena? Didn't that work out either?

Do you have a favorite day to trade? I mean is there one particular day of the week when you never miss a good signal? Never take a bad one. A day of the week when you always seem to have the courage of your convictions. When you never overstay a good trade. Never chicken out too soon. The kind of a day when you not only have a rock solid trade plan, but stick to it like glue?

Is there one day of the week when you are brimming with self-confidence and skill?

My personal favorite is Sunday. Call me crazy if you’d like. Point out that the market is closed if it will make you feel smarter. But I am telling you that I have NEVER had a bad Sunday. Put a chart in front of me, and I will spot every good trade, and avoid every sucker trade. It’s a fact!

There simply ain’t no one – no one I tell you – who is better at trading than I am – on Sunday. Of course all of this skill and courage seems to disappear on Monday. Signals are harder to spot, rules are harder to follow, and unbridled confidence just evaporates come Monday morning.

I wonder why that is? If only the market was open on Sunday, even Saturday, I’d be rich. Do you know what I mean? Can you understand what I am saying? How can a guy be so smart on Sunday, and a certifiable card carrying idiot on Monday?

Just pokin' fun Tampa. I did switch to poker for awhile several months ago. After not playing for many years it was fun for awhile but online poker turned out to be mindnumbingly boring for the most part. At least in the clubs you can stay busy studying the other players. I still play an occasional tournament and came in 4th recently for a decent payday. Overall I now have to say trading is much more interesting.

Sunday is a traditional day of rest. When resting the mind is more open to new thoughts, different perceptions and can freely associate past experience with current perceptions to synthesize new relationships or patterns in the discipline with which we immerse ourselves.

Monday is performance day. From the moment we are shoe-horned into our school clothes until we collect that big gold watch in the sky, we are trained to perform on Monday. Just think about it as if you were a hunter and instead of getting up-tight with the pressure to perform imagine yourself stalking a small prey-animal on Monday.

How can a guy be so smart on Sunday, and a certifiable card carrying idiot on Monday?

Natural selection.

today's YM 5min isnt easy to trade with WCCI, IMHO. just for fun, bring up the AB 133t. I like to watch 5 to 6 charts on ym, es, ab, with the different time frames to select my trades and for confirmations

Darn, I got serious again. I need to smack myself. I keep forgetting that this is tampa world. tampa, STOP pretending you dont know what u r doing so I can stop pretending to give u useful advice :)
