Yep. Every inch of land outside that airport is held by the enemy which mean a plane taking off is an easy shot, even for small arms fire. Bringing down a plane would be a major score for them. They can also pound the airstrip with mortars if they choose. Only reason I can think they aren't already doing that is a major cash deal has already been worked out through Hanoi John.

During his 90-minute speech in Alabama on Saturday night, former president Donald Trump praised the Taliban and talked up his relationship with them at the same time that President Joe Biden is attempting to conduct the evacuation of Americans out of Afghanistan.

Using the chaos in Afghanistan as a springboard to criticize Biden, the former president called the Taliban "great negotiators" and "tough fighters" before adding, "...with me in office the Taliban would not have ever dreamt of capturing our airfield or parading around with our American weapons."

Critics of Trump were quick to note that his negotiations with the Taliban led to the release of 5,000 of their members which has contributed to the turmoil in the country as the U.S military leaves after a fruitless twenty-year war.

There is a lot of smoke and mirrors going on in the reporting in Kabul - both from the government and from the media.

We don't know how many Americans are there and how many have made it out and in the instances where we do know where Americans are, Biden has been told by the Taliban that he cannot go out and get them because the Taliban will get mad.

They are trying to compensate for that by reporting on more and more and more plane loads of collections of various local Afghans who may or may not have any real connection to the U.S.

You ask about where we are with getting the Americans are out and you get a bunch of smoke about how "more planes are leaving" and "yesterday many of the planes were 50% full and now they are 80% full and more countries are taking them."

Yeh. Okay. Where we at with the Americans?

All the reporting has become Kabul-centric too because the fact that there are thousands of Americans off in other cities is just mind-boggling and I certainly don't have an answer as to how to unscramble that egg. Just sayin, that you can get ballsy in your mind and see some more aggressive operation in Kabul but the Americans out in the other cities will immediately disappear into that hazy world where hostages go.

What a fucking mess.

Really, I can think of another reason: the United States military will destroy everything they have, kill their entire leadership and send any Taliban remaining running back to their caves.

Don’t mistake for one second the taliban doesn’t understand they are where they are because the Afghan military surrendered, not the US. We could easily retake the entire country and hold it for another 20 years if we wanted to.

Of course. The point made in the article is 100% correct.

The lefty media is 100% complicit too. In one of the debates Joe was asked about AFG and he ranted and babbled on about how he has always recommended that it be divided into three countries and what a great idea that is. Clearly confusing Iraq with AFG. The media, the debate moderators said nothing. He was totally gone in the head even before he was gone in the head. But those who surround him wanted him to go places for their own needs - not the country's- unless your country is Iran or China or something.
