Quote from Drew07:
How did you fund your trading career in the beginning neke? just curoius.
Quote from jimclark:
Neke,
who is your broker now?
if you have a full time job how do you manage to trade? Just curious
Quote from neke:
I funded my trading with money saved from my job (I still work full-time as an Information Technology specialist). Became aware of the markets in Dec 1999 (when the Nasdaq euphoria was peeking!), sent 16K to Datek (now Ameritrade), and started trading. Within 2 weeks I had lost 50% of the amount (even though the Nasdaq was setting new highs!). I knew I was doing something opposite to the way to make money! I did not know it was going to take me a number of years to understand not just what to do differently, but how to develop the mindset to do it.
Quote from neke:
I use Ameritrade and IB. Some of my methods are automated (with little input from me when I am at work). Others I do when I have the time in my office (I will not take up a job with an employer that blocks access to my brokers!)
Quote from neke:
Now that my trading week has ended, I feel I should acquaint you with my results. The week was OK, except for Tuesday, when the market tanked big time, I was caught on the long side and fully leveraged. However, subsequent days got some gains, and I ended the week on the upside. Withdrew 7K, mainly for tax on last years gains.
