so, basically elected representatives mean nothing then? Each time a decision has been made you disagree with you wanna go Swiss and call in a national referendum (or state referendum for that matter?). See, if you decide to have elected representatives, chosen in a democratic manner, then you bestow responsibilities and rights onto them. Not sure why you cannot accept that. Nobody in NYC dictated statesmen and women in SC what to do with the flag. It was removed by their own calling.
What?
Maybe I was a bit confusing in my commentary. If the people of SC find the flag offensive, they call their legislators and tell them they want it removed. The legislators either follow the will of the people or don't, and if they don't, and the people feel strong enough about it, they replace the legislators with ones that will listen.
As for not accepting that elected representatives, chosen in a democratic manner...etc...all that nonsesne, I have no idea what you're talking about. All I'm saying is that this is a state manner, not a federal one. Not a media one. Everyone should butt out and let the state decide. End of story.
As for no one in NYC or anywhere else, what do you call the current media shitstorm that is going on right now? Everyone trying to insert their will on what the state of SC should do. That's all fine and dandy, but when the President of the United States decides to rain in on it, or other senators from other states, etc, it's called political pressure. It's not just an opinion.
All I'm saying is let the state decide and everyone focus on more important things. You know, like the Ukraine. Like people dying in Iraq, etc. Not whether some flag that has been flown for 150 years is suddenly toxic.
