Hi, Landis82
Have fun! Your new T3400 has 2GB 800MHz ECC DDR2 RAM and a 7,200rpm hard drive, doesn't it?
Yes, I ordered a NEW T3400 on the Dell Business site with an E8200 "Wolfsdale" Intel Duo-Core 2.66 processor that comes with the 1333 front side bus and a huge L2 cache with 6 MB's!
It's coming with a basic 80 Gig SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ and 8mb of cache hard drive, a 48XCD-RW/DVD combo, a 525 watt power supply, 2 nVidia NVS-290 Quadro graphics cards that fit in each of the PCI-Express 16x slots and will support a total of 4 monitors, 1 Gig of 667 Non-ECC RAM ( which I won't be using ), and Windows XP Pro with a 3-year warranty and North American ( English ) support!
All for
$806 + tax
I ordered the computer over the phone because the sales rep said he could save me some money. After we spent 15 minutes on the phone, he came back to me with the SAME price that I would have received had I configured the machine online.
I told him that I found this quite "disappointing" and told him that I wanted to cancel my order. He sounded perturbed and asked me why . . . I told him that he didn't follow through on his word and save me any money over me configuring the machine myself online.
He asked me what else I wanted.
I told him that I was
realistic and asked for 5% off. He put me on hold and came back from speaking with a supervisor with 5% off.
I then purchased 2 Gigs of PC2-6400 ECC RAM on the Dell website while they were having a memory sale at 25% off.
Thus, the computer cost me $806 + tax, and the 2 gigs of memory cost me $90 + tax.
