Quote from Kicking:
How expensive the night clubs?
Housing doesn't appear to be expensive .
I used to go to Arthur's by the airport. There was a door charge of sFr. 30 plus about sFr 12 per drink. Things might have changed now. I don't know if Arthur's was even there.
Better clubs for the price nearby in France. Macumba, etc.
The expensive things in Switzerland would include mandatory full insurance coverage as discussed above, food is expensive, cars, etc.
You know what is funny? I really didn't mind paying taxes in Switzerland. You can see how well the money is managed and spent. I mean you can take a picture from Montreux of the mountains across the lake with the park in the foreground and it will look like a painting. Not a single piece of paper or dog poop or cigarette butt in sight.
The only real problem, I think, as compared to say London or a U.S. city is that the government doesn't promote competition among businesses. Hence, it takes forever to get anything up to date as a service. There are only a hand full of computer shops, for example, and they can all charge an arm and a leg for whatever. It creates this attitude that if you don't like their prices or service, "you can go elsewhere.... oh.... yes, there is nowhere else to go...."
