Swiss arrest Polanski on US request in sex case

"ZURICH – Director Roman Polanski was arrested by Swiss police as he flew in for the Zurich Film Festival and faces possible extradition to the United States for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl, authorities said Sunday.

Polanski was scheduled to receive an honorary award at the festival when he was apprehended Saturday at the airport, the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement. It said U.S. authorities have sought the arrest of the 76-year-old director around the world since 2005."

Maybe they can sentence him to 100 hours of community service which will be served advising ACORN on the ins and outs of having sex 13 year old girls.
 
Not to take the side of any child molester, if they are guilty let em' burn, but isn't there a statute of limitations on these matters, that's over 30 years go?
 
Switzerland is getting gang raped right before our eyes. First the demented UBS cases now this. This is very low class for them to arrest Polanski when he was on his way to receive on award at a film festival in switzerland. They are trying to suck up to US but they will lose much more in the process, they will lose their reputation.

i dont ordinarely have any sympathy for child molestors, but who wouldnt be messed up after what the manson family did to his wife, baby and friends with no provocation whatsoever

he's been in exile for 32 years, and the girl has long forgiven him

i think he's had enough

He was not a "rapist" and the woman he "raped" was arguing in his favor not against him. He slept with a 12 year old a long time ago. The matter should have died a long time ago. Plus who cares about polanski this is about switzerland

iif every last child molesting illegal alien had been jailed and then deported,(rather than being rewarded with Amnesty and free everything) then maybe, yeah i could see going after him
