Swing Trading

I decided to take a Swing trade on NQ on Monday.. @7313... closed it out at yesterday's close @7431... GEEZ, I had no idea what would happen today, I was just thrilled to capture a great profit.

BUT...... that is not the important part. What is important is the MAJOR difference in my attitude and anxiety level. Sure I watched it every day, but my decisions are now based off 5PM EST closing price. So, I am not watching every little wiggle. So much calmer.

so I think this is for me. I am sure that the crazy day trading is over for me. I realize that all those decisions on a daily basis was wearing me out mentally.

I hope you feel (emotions) the same way at the end of the year or before tax time 2019 about swing trading.

Please remind us again how you're doing by end of year or by tax time.

Its normal to feel this way about swing trading or a day trade that you sat in the position the entire day for big profits...its like a high and you want to duplicate the feeling again after another successful trade.

Good luck.

we will see how I feel... today on Monday the hardest thing for me is to stand aside. My strategy calls for no trade , and it could be many days until I go into a trade.

Crazy, ain't it. Only thing you have to worry about are expirys now.

@Overnight yup... so so so much less stressful. I still watch every day,,, but no longer care about all the little moves up and down. My decisions are based on daily chart and at closing price. Way better for me.

How much you have in the account, and which instruments are you trading?

I would rather not say my total.. but I am trading at $10,000 per contract. I am trading NQ only... stop is 20day Moving Average

In my opine, true NQ swing trading would require more than 10K per contract, since the current maintenance margin is something like $6500 per contract. Give some leeway for time/flex on the price fluctuation swings....I'd say 30K per contract would be a better bet.

you are probably correct... but I have a max Stop at 100 points... anyway we shall see. profit or loss,,, either way I am liking this way of trading much better
