I have tried them. They are a useful tool in hedging an account when you need a much smaller delta adjustment than the micros.
I put the final touches on my Supertrader excel spreadsheet today. By having this spreadsheet. I can complete my trades and analysis in under 10 minutes a day.
It tells me when to close a position when it reaches various price and time targets. The spreadsheet also tells me what adjustments are necessary in the portfolio. I am able to easily track my theta/Vega ratio, delta/Vega ratio, and delta/theta ratio. It then computes my daily delta adjustment. How cool is that.
I am now more convinced than ever that you can manage an entire portfolio by simply monitoring your Greeks. No charts, no fundamentals, no technical analysis, and no bull shit. Just the Greeks.
