Sweden

Sweden death rate, 5 times the rate in Norway, Finland and Denmark.

This shows lockdowns in those 3 countries reduced deaths by 80%.

There is no doubt in my mind that without lockdowns UK deaths would have been well above 250K and US deaths well above 1 million.

Even with those higher deaths counts i will still say Lockdowns should still not have happened.

But i'm not going to say Lockdowns didn't save a huge number of lives in the UK and US. Because it is obvious to me that they did.
Yup the reality the deniers avoid.

As for 30 million dead who facking believes such idiocy. Supermarket tabloid chit.

The polar opposite idiocy of those who say 0 deaths have happened.

Meanwhile we "punished" our former prez by booting him out of office, for not doing a lockdown sooner and with more enforcement and compliance, which led to way more deaths than otherwise.

There are other reasons Trump was voted out, it´s actualy hard to imagine the Republicans couldn´t find a less obnoxious candidate. But Federal US gives the world a good image of what lockdowns attain. New York passing the 1 year mark as a heavily taxed and restricted hellhole, Florida and Texas almost business as usual.
I had Republican sympathies before covid, but now have a hard time associating democrats with anything less than nightmarish

Take away initial surge in NY early on and they (NY) are running neck and neck with us here in Florida yet we have the weather advantage - IOW we should be doing better. We aren't.

That the country hasn't done better overall is because of those who won't take precautions. Mostly, but not all, are tRumpers.

Reality!!!

Yeah, reality... looks unreal how you seem to judge living standards only by the number of covid cases. It´s a common occurrence though, it it wasn´t quality of life wouldn´t have been thrown down the drain while locked in scared sheeps clapped in honour of idle nurses from their balconies.

LOL where was I judging living standards? Idle fucking nurses from their balconies?

Ok put down the crack pipe. C ya again if you come back to reality at some point.

Nah, you need to check overseas news before talking about crack pipes. People were under strict stay at home orders in Spain, couldn´t go out of their house but they would go to their window and clap at 8pm daily in honour of the health care staff, which was largely hanging out idly in empty hospitals. Happened in other european countries as well. That was the most drastic move from authorities but much of the world has been living under heavy restrictions for over 1 year now.
Not in Florida, where u live, so lockdown issues might be harder to notice there.
Fairly sure immigration to Florida is higher than immigration to NY atm, wondering whether panicking democrats are fleeing the maskless shores of Florida to the beautiful restrictions of NY, but doubt very much so.

Yes, you are judging the success of a society (pretty much the living standard) by the number of covid cases, which is as simplistic as it gets and a major threat to society. It looks to me that if Florida has managed case numbers close to those in California or NY without imposing tough restrictions nor imposing a mask mandate (i e sacrified the quality of life and freedom of choice of its citizens) it has been doing better.

Florida could have 5 times the number of cases, if it hadn´t locked down its society and forced people to wear a facemask I´d say it has done better anyway.
But the saddest part is heavily restricted states don´t even have better covid numbers to show for their destruction of society.

Spain went through the 3rd wave already. Now they are scared of the 4th wave, which is alegedly starting ( even talking abt 5th wave in some news today not sure why)
Some provinces have had rather strict lockdowns, others less so, everything has been open since last June in Madrid, nowadays restaurants and businesses have to cllse their lights by 11pm. A whole bunch of other restrictions, which are more or less followed. Face mask omnipresent though, I almost only go to places where they are overall not worn, but not so many of those in the city, ugly. Gyms, restaurants, entertainment centers open since last June yet on paper and started a few weeks ago, one is not allowed to have any guest at home, happily even parents who are not keen on doing ilegal stuff are jumping that rule now, and kids play quite a bit with their friends, at home and outside.

Bad news is they want to push a national rule that would force Madrid restaurants ad bars to close their indoor and closed terraces area. Madrid doesn t agree and restaurants have remained open through the last 2 waves but it might be bullied into it.
Other provinces have stricter rules and stricter enforcement.
Not sure when they will start saying lockdowns are not worth it, we already have the oldest folks vaccinated and covid damage should be even lower than before.
I know a whole bunch of people who tested positive btw, mostly small deals but at our gym 2 were hospitalised, and another one had a very tough time during 2 weeks, not sure whether he was hospitalised.
I grappled ( hard to get a closer contact) with several people just before they tested positive, on diferent occasions, and neither felt ill nor was I ever contacted by contact tracers ( infamously ineficient in Madrid, which I apreciate)

UK First Wave, normals as at risk was shielding, 2nd wave when the Shielding program stopped, 3rd kinda wave as 2nd wave was going down nicely then deaths went through the root, I call it oxford vaccine wave, yes there calling vaccine deaths waves yeahhhh and covering that shit up.

Next wave, Pfizer 2nd dose looks to be a killer that's starting up soon, reports around the world don't look good.
