I reacted on this statement:
I pointed tho the inaccuracy of that statement. It should have been:
"Sweden no lockdown, yet its case deaths per 1 million inhabitants are far smaller than Spain and Italy....?"
He just stated that there are less deaths then in Italy or Spain, which is obvious as the population is much smaller.
Not mentioning per 1 million inhabitants, suggests that he just compares the population of the three countries. And that is wrong.
Even comparing deaths per 1 million inhabitants has it's limitations. If you compare Siberia or Antartica with any country they would be much lower too. Density of the population has a big impact on per 1 million inhabitants. Just ask in New York if they see a difference with the desert of Nevada.
Yes, that sounds right, also Swedish lifestyle peculiarities are claimed to help the country keep a moderate death rate.
I took a look at stock market performance since Jan and it didn't show any significant difference. Atleast the market does not think Sweden has saved its economy by sacrificing 8 times as many people.
What a world we are living in, now considering citizens as human beings rather than pets is "sacrificing" them. Rather than TP, many should have stocked litter. According to surveys Swedes in majority agree with the light touch policy btw, and the elders (over 60 roughly) agree most.
As of the final number of victims in countries that locked down, we have little idea of what it will be, or if they will be able to reopen in any meaningful manner before years.
Germany, South Korea, Singapore China, Lebanon now Spain and probably more after tentively reopening partially have faced contagion numbers increasing and either had to revert back to a stricter lockdown or considering it, at the very least the reopening plans are in jeopardy.
Denmark seems to be the most confident country I read about about the reopening of the national society (not borders), interestingly it seems they only had a light lockdown, with death rates between those of Norway and Sweden
