Riots erupted in a heavily immigrant Stockholm suburb Monday night, as masked looters set cars ablaze and threw rocks at cops, injuring one police officer, Swedish officials said.

The violence in Rinkeby began around 8 p.m., when officers arrested a suspect at an underground station on drug charges, The Local reported. A group soon gathered, hurling rocks and other objects at officers and prompting one cop to fire his gun “in a situation that demanded he use his firearm,” police spokesman Lars Bystrom said.

“But nobody has been found injured at the scene and we have checked the hospitals and there hasn’t been anyone with what could be gunshot wounds,” Bystrom added.

It came just days after President Trump was mocked during a Saturday campaign rally for mentioning Sweden alongside a list of European targets of terror. Trump later said his “You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden” remark was in response to a Fox News report on the country’s refugee crime crisis that aired on Friday evening.

“Sweden. They took in large numbers [of refugees],” Trump added at the Florida rally. “They’re having problems like they never thought possible.”

Sweden’s official Twitter account – which is operated by a different user each week – tweeted at Trump on Monday morning: “Hey Don, this is @sweden speaking! It’s nice of you to care, really, but don’t fall for the hype. Facts: We’re OK!”

Hours later, the Rinkeby riots began, with a second wave starting around 10:30 p.m. Seven or eight cars were set on fire and many stores saw looting, The Local reported. A photographer from media outlet Dagens Nyheter said a group of 15 people beat him as he tried to document the chaos.

“I was hit with a lot of punches and kicks both to my body and my head. I have spent the night in hospital,” said the photographer, who was not named.

The rioting ended just after midnight.

No arrests were made; however, reports were filed on three violent acts, violence against a police officer, two assaults, vandalism and aggravated thefts, authorities said.

Rinkeby is the same area where an Australian "60 Minutes" crew was attacked by a group of men in April 2016. The film crew was attempting to enter a so-called “no go zone,” which authorities deny they use as a label. Rinkeby, however, has been officially classified as one of 15 “particularly vulnerable” areas across Sweden.

The country's prime minister, Stefan Lofven, said Monday, "Yes, we have challenges like all other countries. There's no doubt. We have a situation in the world where 65 million people had to flee their countries last year, the year before that. 65 million. So that's a war for us together." He also said Sweden was investing more in housing, technology and its welfare system.

Reports of rapes in Sweden jumped 13 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year, and reports of sexual assaults were up 20 percent, according to preliminary data from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention.

Fox News' Maria Karlsson and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Why is Sweden allowing this to happen?

I can understand in some sense why Germany and Merkel wanted to allow so many islamic refugees in. My best guess is that Germany is still dealing with its Nazi past and people like Merkel feel that they can right the wrongs of the past by going from a nation that produced Hitler to a nation that is the most welcoming on record. The problem is that it is not working out yet again.

That is the best excuse that I can come up with for Germany. What the hell is Sweden's excuse? Is White Guilt automatically included in any Left-Leaning/semi-Socialist ideology??? I thought you needed some type historical backdrop of your homeland's history to derive this White Guilt. Who did Sweden oppress in the past to cause this current mindset?

There is one last possibility that I have not mentioned yet, maybe the Swedes are just too nice and simply stupid on what they are getting themselves into? How long does it take to regret opening your country up for an islamic free-for-all???

The last 2 nations on the planet to have that don't stand for this crap are China and Japan. Japan is the last nation on earth to be truly untouched by DIEversity. What a failed Globalist Concept these libtards carry with them......

WHITE HOUSE
Sweden Democrats: Trump was right
Published February 23, 2017

Trump unclear about Sweden, but did he have a valid point?

Two leading Swedish politicians have a message for President Trump’s critics: He’s right.

Per Jimmie Akesson and Mattias Karlsson, both leaders of the Sweden Democrats, penned a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Wednesday supporting Trump’s characterization of a Muslim immigrant-led crime crisis in Sweden.

“Mr. Trump did not exaggerate Sweden’s current problems,” Akesson and Karlsson wrote. “If anything, he understated them.”

Trump was ridiculed by many after he gave a speech Saturday citing Sweden among a list of European countries affected by the scourge of Islamic terror. Referring to the massive number of Middle Eastern refugees that have poured into the country, Trump said Sweden was “having problems like they never thought possible.” Some Swedish politicians openly derided Trump’s portrayal of the country – but riots in a heavily immigrant suburb of Stockholm on Monday evening put an end to most of the mockery.

“Riots and social unrest have become a part of everyday life,” Akesson and Karlsson wrote. “Police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel are regularly attacked. Serious riots in 2013, involving many suburbs with large immigrant populations, lasted for almost a week. Gang violence is booming. Despite very strict firearms laws, gun violence is five times as common in Sweden, in total, as in the capital cities of our three Nordic neighbors combined.”

They added: “Anti-Semitism has risen. Jews in Malmo are threatened, harassed and assaulted in the streets. Many have left the city, becoming internal refugees in their country of birth.”

The Sweden Democrats duo ended the op-ed with a warning for the United States.

“For the sake of the American people,” Akesson and Karlsson wrote, “with whom we share so many strong historical and cultural ties, we can only hope that the leaders in Washington won’t make the same mistakes that our socialist and liberal politicians did.”

If i remember right, wasn't Oslo (Sweden) the host capital of Palestinian "peace" talks going back to the 90's, maybe even the 80's?

I think there may be a link to that past, and this present.

that is powerful... and I am impressed with the fact the it says the wsj published the editorial.

when are our lefties going to learn?

I'd bet both Sweden and Germany realize that they really F'd up and don't want to admit it publicly. Instead they try to save face by pressing on for more of the same, claiming they've been right all along.

Either that or the politico elites are "in on it" like Obama... the intentional destruction of their country.... probably for some Soros bucks or promise of position when the NWO takes control.

Yeah I agree,

On a side note, I always wanted to visit Sweden. It seemed like a great place, no crime, great culture and none of the historical baggage that so many countries suffer from. Why they decided to just let their great crime-free country become overrun is just a total mystery to me??

I get why Germany is doing it, I just don't understand what Sweden is thinking. They had a great thing going without any outside interference.
