Suspended driving licence

I have some very generous friends that live here in Central Florida but they also own a chalet in Gstaad that they visit periodically throughout the year. They have invited my wife and I to visit them on many occasions in the past, but we were unable to go for a variety of reasons. Then one day I finally realized, "It's not every day that somebody invites you to stay at their chalet in Switzerland at no cost to you. You need to make this happen. "

So to answer your question, the primary purpose of our trip is to visit our friends. We honestly don't know much about the area or what activities are available, but if the weather is good, we will definitely enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Aside from Mexico, my wife has never been out of the country before so this trip is probably going to blow her mind.
 
Indeed. It's great to have generous friends like that. Switzerland is really beautiful when it comes to the landscape and the scenery. Coming to Gstaad you will have a good view of the typical swiss mountain ski resort : The swiss chalet are the nicest, cross the border to French Savoie and they are completely different.

Everything is clean in Switzerland, almost too clean sometimes. You won't find trash anywhere. Sometimes I need to go to Barcelona or Marseille to remember what a messed up but more lively city is about.

I am sure your friends know what to do around Gstaad but here are a few things I would do if I had one week in Gstaad( involves a lot of driving though ):
- Go to Chamonix "Aiguille du Midi" in France. 3800 m. The best point of view of the Mont Blanc. About 2 hours from Gstaad
-Go see the Thoune Lake near Bern and Interlaken. About 1h1/2 from Gstaad.
-Go see the Joux Lake near French Jura border. About 1h1/2 from Gstaad.
-Closer to Gstaad. When you are at the extreme east point of the Geneva Lake in Villeneuve. Take the road to "Sonchaux". You will climb the mountain above Montreux with the smallest road ever to get the best view of the Lake. Go there when the sun goes down and eat at the "Auberge de Sonchaux".45 minutes from Gstaad.

3 months? I went without a DL for 12 mos. It didn't stop me from going anywhere.
I DID however obey all traffic law religiously to minimize the odds of getting stopped.
 
Damn Lucrum, that's one thing I WON'T do for sure.

I don't know when you did that but nowadays the policy in every developped country is that driving is privilege not a right. Enforcement is extremely tough. They don't care about ruinin your life. They would have taken your licence for 5 years or more.I don't take my driving licence for granted even if I ave never had an accident in my life( and I drive a minimum of 30000 kms per year ).
 
Gstaad, Mont Blanc, Chamonix "Aiguille du Midi"...

I really gotta get out more. Sometimes I forget there is more to traveling than going from Western Wisconsin to Northern Wisconsin. (as beautiful as it is up there)

It was 1998. If I recall the penalty would have been having my car confiscated.
 
I understand. It was the wild west back then. My father used to drive 160 km/h on average when he was working. When he retired and sold his business, he lost 40 km/h...LOL. Now he gives me lessons and tells me I must slow down...LOL
 
One thing I forgot, If you happen to go to the Thoune Lake, go to Grindelwald to see the famous Eiger mountain where so many alpinists died, as seen in Clint Eastwood's "The Eiger Sanction" movie.
