I know this might be big brain but infowars isn't exactly a reliable source of scientifically reviewed opinions. Being run by the seconded biggest giver of the hottest takes, Alex Jones, it's important to step back and realize that if Jones doesn't convince you baby eating reptiles are going to eat you too unless you buy his supplements, he isn't doing his job.
Moreover, Slate Star Codex has not had this study peer reviewed so it may as well say voting for Trump grants super powers. It's just as valid.
I wish people would learn to read academic papers. Maybe then they'd realize a "study" carried out by a website that isn't peer reviewed and repeated (especially in the area of psychology - repeatability is huge) by someone without a PhD and a verified journal publishing record in the field is worth less than the paper it's written on. We can likely find significant mental illness among the far right by choosing N such that it fits our agenda.
There's no controls in the study especially around ideological acceptance - for example how did they control for the fact mental illness is acceptable on the left (and therefore more openly spoken about) vs. the right (who is more likely to hide it)? A person on the left may be more inclined to admit they have mental illness (or perhaps fake it for SJW points) than someone on the right who would be ashamed by it. How did they verify these people indeed had their "diagnosed" mental illness? How did they verify their N was truly random? These are just three of the many shortcomings of this trash heap of a survey.
They did a GOOGLE DOC SURVEY for fuck's sake. There's more science in the last shit I took than this study.

been to mensa groups 20 years ago.
a few of the members were in good shape
many looked like jeff bezos before he got smart and got a trainer.

many recent studies show the massive importance of filling you body with oxygen, endorphins and the myraid other benefits which exercise gives your brain and your body. Similarly there are even studies which show the similar importance of frequent sex (especially for women).
So my theory is that a couple decades ago... many high IQ types were no into exercise at all. Now they are playing the price.
Obviously its just a theory. But, it sure seems to fit many of the the Mensa types I know, knew or met. Think pocket protectors types 20 years ago.
