Surprising new book suggests profitable rules-based strategies are plentiful

You doin 1 to 5 minute charts? Maybe a couple 30second charts once in a while?
Hello easymon1,

I manual trade for 0 to 1.5 hours.

But I spend more time developing algo system for myself to day trade for me throughout the day as do not have time to sit and watch chart all day. Algo development did make me about $10,000 last year with Long Only NQ algo, but I read the daily NQ chart and stopped in early January, before the sell off came after I saw the bears coming.

Now I want long and short algo only.

You decided to get back on the algo horse? Sounds interesting.
Hello easymon1,

Well buddy, let me keep it simple for you:

It is stupid to watch the charts all day, and have trading ideas pouring in my head, and I have no software to test and validate these ideas. This is my opinion. The NQ has moved alot since 2018, and in 2020, if I had my algo running I would have made about $50K that year. I made $0.00 that year messing with that manual trading stuff and not back testing ideas.

You seem to vacillate between algo trading is bullshit and discretionary trading is bullshit :D

For me Algo is the way to go but it is hard. Low win rates and sometime long drawdowns. But you have to stand there and take those drawdowns like a man. Not crying like a baby or have emotional temper tantrums like a 3 year old. You have to remain calm and balanced while the market bends you over and has its way with you :D, knowing you will eventually get the money back with lots of interest on top as long as you stick to the system.

Hello Millionaire,

Lol, well excuse me on that. I was wrong. They are not bullshit.

Both make money.

I like both. I lean more towards algo personally for a long term solution.

LMFAO HHAHAHAHAH that is funnyyy as fuck man

I honestly I have never experienced drawdown for algo so I have not been raped yet by the market.

But when I view my back test curves, I see the drawdowns like this curve now I am working with. Lol, hopefully the algo do not start in drawdown, and the bend over pain is not too bad.

Do you use any position sizing in your algos?

Hello easymon1,

I currently do not have any live algos running. I am in development stage.

But position sizing I will have in the code for certain.

I would not be doing trading if I can not scale up. Would be a complete waste of time, right?
