I still don't understand why you didn't take the 30K profit from 10 cts at ~20400, and then re-enter with 2 contracts to chase the remainder of the 1000 point dream on the short-side. It is what I would have done. This way, if it reverses all the way back up to 21087, you don't wind up at breakeven after all that time, but with $30K - ((2ct * 600tic * $5per tic) = -$6k) = $24K in your pocket if it DOES retrace back to the entry point.
If you are still open the 10ct from a 21087 entry short, and the price as it stands as of this typing at 20640 and you sell them now, you have 446t*$5*10 = $22.3K.
If you took the 30K profit at 20400, went back in 2 cts short, and sold now for the loss, you would be $30K - ((-446t*$5*2) = -$4,460) = $25,540.
So which number is best for you and your short lackeys today? You have five figures to choose from...
Paper trades don't have actual profit.
$30,000 out, free and clear, no re-entry
$25,540 out now.
$24,000 out on a full retrace from entry
$22,300 out now.
$0 out on a full retrace from entry.
This is a worse-case scenario in that the price will never go below that 20400 point it reached, before contract expiry. But it must be considered. Why not capture some profits NOW man?!?
