Suits

Quote from marketsurfer:

baron's right.

nothing beats a good custom made suit or even custom shirts--- just don't skimp on the fabric, the best cut cant make up for cheap looking fabric, and as most on et know, i am THE arbiter of high fashion.:D

confidence looks better in a $2000 suit than a $200 suit, however, either you know or your don't. just don't wear a pinky ring. HA

surf:)

Lol, your the pink shirt guy, you should know.

Actually, Ive only owned one suit, a hand-me down, just happened to fit perfectly.

Winterweight cotton twill, purchased (i gather) for about 26 pounds stirling,
in london, 1959.

Not into suits, and obviously it doesnt fit now, but i felt like a god wearing that thing.

It was so damn comfortable, it was just ridiculous-and im damn sure i didnt look like a claims server or insurance salesman.

Its not like im talking from experience, i just didnt have enough court appearances to warrant a good, new, suit.

Polyester, is not good, under any circumstances.

guys lets not kid ourselves

we dress like bums, I know traders we look like bums even though we have money

congratulation to some guys like Baron who take time to look good

but me, I am a bum

Tom James is a division of Chicago's Oxxford. They're the guys who make suits for Bush at 3k a pop. No doubt a Tom James custom fitted suit is as close to pristine as one can normally get for under a thou.

Another option is EBAY. I found a "nwot" Zegna on there a couple of years ago for only $350 (it was new and genuine, look for 99% positive feedback). After spending a hundred more in alterations it's the nicest garment in my closet.

Quote from Baron:

I splurged one time and had a custom suit made from scratch by http://www.tomjames.com.

One of their reps will come out to your house or office and do a presentation on all of their fabrics and patterns. You get to choose all the details of the suit construction like the styles of the collar, pleats, cuffs, seams, etc. They basically have every fabric on the planet to choose from as well, including all the "Super 100" fabrics found on italian suits.

Once you've decided on something you like, he will take detailed measurements of your shoulders, waist, inseam, etc. and then place the order with their factory. In about a month, he'll show up again with your new suit and let you try it on. It will probably fit perfectly but alterations will be made at that point if necessary.

The cool thing is that if you gain or lose weight at any point, they will stop by and take your stuff back to the factory and adjust it at no charge.

The best part though, is the fact that they embroider "Custom made for YOUR NAME" on the label inside the jacket. So when you sport your new suit and your buddy says "That's an awesome suit, what kind is it?", you can flip open your jacket and watch his mouth drop.

With all that said, I find that I look amazing no matter what suit I'm wearing :D

Are men wearing the suits for other men, or to impress the ladies?

The ladies know the difference between a $200 suit from George "I guarantee it " Zimmer and a Hugo Boss suit...just like they know the difference between Pay For Less shoes and Ferragamo or Gucci...

I've seen some of the photos of ET members, and frankly, they dress like hobos or K-Mart shoppers....

the only thing they dont know is that the ROLEX people are wearing is almost 99% chance of it not being real...everything else they can tell...hell they might spot you being a little dick from a mile away just from the shoe size.. :p

Every girl's crazy bout a sharp dressed man...

good post. yeah, i am partial to both thomas pink shirts in pink, yellow, white. however, i rarely wear suits of anykind anymore.

Today i attended a seminar and the presenter was wearing a suit. So naturally, i thought of this thread :)

The suit fit flawlessly - he looked sharp and confident and I don’t believe it was a designer suit. i'm sure if it was a fitted Armani suit he’d look even better, but it was not necessary and it was that much more attractive that his confidence was at a perfect level without the flashy clothing... Just my thoughts :)
