Sugar is a long-term buy. Period.

In the last 24 months sugar has been the worst performing commodity, IMHO.

Yes, heilbronner1 is correct. But we are entering a traditionally bullish seasonal period for Sugar.
And the choppiness in sugar over the past year has been painful financially, emotionally, spiritually, you-name-it!
... hmmm on second thought maybe the choppiness shook out nervous hands? Who the heck knows!!!!

I have a very bullish view on sugar in the long-term. Short-term I think it could suffer from the potential hit in oil, since it (as well as corn) are to some extent an energy-substitute due to ethanol. It would be pure sentiment and little to do with the fundamentals, but it could have an impact.
Another factor is that sugar has shown absolutely no upside bullish momentum recently. I have had on a moderate position for the last couple of months, but I am out since today's drop in crude. I will wait to see how sugar reacts to the (anticipated) drop in oil before I re-establish longs. If I am wrong and sugar rallies to 11 cents, then fine - I will buy back and ride it up to 20 cents which is where I expect it to reach in the next 2-3 years.

I have a huge position in sugar (1 contract.... okay NO LAUGHING... I'm just dipping my toe into futures)
I also look at the long-term (definition: > 3 months) and see bright skies ahead. But whew!!! ... talk about short-term pain! I may exit and put my money to work elsewhere in the interim.
BTW, I like putting my money where my stomach is and I make and eat chocolate truffles (esp for the holidays), drink coffee and eat pork and beef! This is where I'm looking to shift my monsterously-funded futures account (< 10K).
I have attached a 60 min chart for all to see of SBH08 with standard stochastic, momentum 28 and volume.
