Quote from dgabriel:
Brain wiring is the wrong thesis. Private gay consensual sexual conduct, whether being gay is derived from biological bias or is strictly a conscious choice, is out of the realm of the government restriction.
If the Supreme court allows the states to outlaw consensual sexual conduct, well, then we are all liable to get, pardon the metaphor, f*cked up the ass.
I am a true conservative when it comes to the constitution and the bill of rights. I wish to uphold the principles embodied in the 4th amendment and limit the reach of the government. I cannot see a compelling public interest in restricting this type behavior.
Are there still miscegenation laws on the books in Alabama and Georgia?

It may be true that some people tend to get fat more than others strictly due to genetics. However, how in shape you are is ultimately 100% personal choice. The people that say they're fat or can't lose fat because of their genes are absolute morons (on this subject)! They simply have NO CLUE how to eat/exercise right. Because they don't know what they're doing, they get poor results, and blame it on their genes.Quote from rlb21079:
To exemplify I will draw upon a, hopefully, less sensitive topic: Obesity. If obesity is the result of individual choice then it could be argued that public policy could extend as far as 'healthy eating campaigns.' The goverment would here be acting on an educational level. On the other hand, if obesity is the result of conditioning or genetics and thusly not the result of an individual exercising choice, then it would be a simple argument to make that the goverment should directly intervene at the point of action. So, instead working towards a more educated populus the government is working to restrict action. This is a more intrusive position and for me, one that is wholly undesirable for the goverment to maintain.

FOR ANYONE CONFUSED ON THIS, SEXUAL ATTRACTION IS NOT A CHOICE!!! A gay male is attracted to another male just like a straight male is attracted to a female. If you think a gay male should change his habits, that would be like telling a straight male to stop liking females; AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN--IT'S HOW THEY'RE WIRED.
