There are arguments being made that killing student debt would increase growth by having those students now direct their loan repayment funds towards something else, such as consumption.
I suppose the question then is: who is going to eat the loss
Increase growth???? Trust me I doubt that's very true. You think someone not paying their student loan debt is sitting on a 800 credit score? Not only that but these people who are already not paying their student loans have already been allocating that money to other goods and services already. This isn't going to add any significant changes to gdp. In fact in will just persuade others to stop paying any future debts that they think one day might just be paid entirely by our government.
