Student Labeled Racist For Wearing School Color During School Spirit Week

I am completely offended by it too. But, on this subject there is a house divided... my wife loves activities. She thinks the kids need to have lots of activities to get into college... I am like no... get good grades and just be really good at one of them... if you are really good at one... you can get a scholarship or have the team's coach pull you into the school.

So with my eldest just entering 9th grade we will see if I have to defund some activities or if I will be an establishment R and talk a big game but already know I will cave.

I am constantly amazed at the crap parents and students take from the education establishment.

Take these "volunteer" requirements. A lot of school systems force students to complete approved, ie liberal, "volunteer" activities. What gives them the right to dictate how a kid spends time outside of school? What if he has to work or look after a sick parent? What if he wants to work on his golf game instead? What gives them the right or the authority to force what is in effect slave labor?

They say it is "good" for the kids. Well, so would eating right and working out two hours a day. There is a line between what schools are responsible for and what parents control, and in my mind, they are way over it.
