Stop the crap.....

The rule of thumb should always be...if you can't post something useful, then don't post.

But...Elite Trader is a free site that has no boundries to entry. So there will always be idiots who want to vomit out whatever comes to mind, without regard to being helpful or even slightly intelligent.

The only way to make a dent is for serious posters to publicly jump on anyone who posts obvious crap, and to do it immediately.

do you mean useful like this reply of yours..

No, no. MrMarket is one of Cohen's ex-traders who was fired for not following the rules. Didn't use stops. You didn't read the article? Cohen cuts his losses quickly. Too good for MrMarket, who, as we all know from his posts, is never wrong and has 15 inch biceps from holding up his trading platform all day while he does miles on his treadmill so he can look good in the pics on his web site. God, I wish I could be more like him.

is this what you mean?

Completely agree. Quick and public condemnation of obvious and frequent crappers is the only solution that will work.

I think a good starting point is zero tolerance for personal insult, obvious disrespect, spam, or flaming. This will weed out the lowest level of detritus for starters, and we can work up from there into generally agreed upon content standards.
Hi folks. I took my family boating today, it is absolutely gorgeous in central Ohio.... finally!

Vanilla' has brilliantly stated the objective. I agree with the rest of his post too, but that is out of my hands, although, I am making a note of it and I think it is a good idea. I dare say that every single one of us shares a love for trading, and as such one of our goals can be to keep EliteTrader lean and clean.

We are professionals and through Baron's continuing efforts, we have a place where trading pros worldwide can come and share ideas and experiences. I am very, very thankful to all of you who have posted your support. I will do my best to not let you down. But if I miss something, or let something stand that you take issue with, PM me, or use the complain link. We can do this.

Just a couple of things. randy' has asked about humor. It was stated in my initial post that 'humor is not crap.' I seriously doubt that there is one member here who has any problem understanding what is truly acceptable, and what pushes the limits. Don't push the limits. I will err on the side of lean and clean.

And this is not a public forum. It is a private one. No one has a right to post except Baron. There is no legal precedence affording anyone the right to post. As such, the concern about lawsuit is nil.

IMO, ET is fine the way it is. Did ET become the site it is today with excessive moderating/censorship? No.

This only applies to the Trading Forum. Traders want to read about trading and trading-related ideas in the Trading Forum. They do not want to read crap. That is what Chit Chat is for.

Hey wait a minute, I owe you congratulations. You said you weren't posting again under that name until you made 1 million dollars trading. Congratulations!
