Stop paying credit cards. Give yourself a bailout!!

I don't think that's the point at all because if he did it based on skill it's repeatable. If he did it based on luck it will only happen again if the moon and the planets line up.

Quote from ElCubano:

The point is not wether he made money or not. The point is had he made money he would be viewed as a genius or a winner or his hard worked and planning worked out....while it was just a difference of 1 to 1 1/2 years....peace

Is that why you can't even cash a check on your own now? Because you weren't in the right place at the right time? :p
Quote from Fractals 'R Us:

Success is about being in the right place, at the right time and doing the right thing. Usually the right thing is to be working very hard at something... you can find a zillion stories about people that were in the right place at the right time and they were doing nothing that fit the scenario...

ok let me try one more time for the slow people....I am not talking about him making or losing money. I am talking about what label they might give him had he made money ( genius ) and what actually hapened ( loser) ...get it...I was replying to a poster ..perhaps you should read before replying...

Quote from bidask:

i'll say one thing. success is due to both hard work and luck, but the distribution is probably far more skewed towards luck than people think.

why? when people succeed, they believe that the reason is due to their own hard work. they tend not to see the extra help they may have received or how they were fortunate in certain critical junctures that kept them on the path of success. that's just human nature.

now you have two camps of people. the ones who succeeded and the ones who failed. which of these two camps do you hear from the most in tv shows and newspapers? of course you hear from the people who succeeded the most. what do they say?

"work hard and you'll succeed."

Quote from Eric215:

Warren Buffet is a perfect example of this and why he is considered a "genius" by some. He does (or at least used to do) a tremendous amount of work finding the best companies and then being extremely patient until the stock is really cheap and the TIMING is right. He isn't lucky and he may not even be a "genius", he could just be a hard working, patient, man. As you know from your poker analogy, lucky people don't last long term. If I go 7-2 against AA I might get lucky once, but I will lose long term.

Imagine the multitudes of people who did the same thing with not 1/1,000,000 the of the success....hence what the poster I quoted is talking about...perhaps his hard work met Lots of luck and we give him the Genius title because it worked out....Had the individual I referred to made millions on his 5 condos we would be sayin gthe same thing about him..." how savy he was" "what great timing"..blah blah blah

Maybe you should take your own advice... nobody intelligent would view him as a genius unless he can do it consistently. Maybe you would so perhaps that's why you missed my point. Get it now?

consistently...hog wash. Had he made millions on 400k investment and walked away forever...he'd be a genius...

who is more of a genius...the dot com traders who made millions and walked away or the ones who made millions and then lost it back to the market...you can take consistent and shove it up your ass at that point...peace..

In your dim mind he would be... I'd want to know why he walked away before I formed my opinion.

Are people who win the lottery geniuses too for deciding to buy the ticket at a particular place and time?
