Stocks I like thus far this AM - 09.Mar.2010 : SVVS & FRPT

I do not buy a stock only because it is going up.

I like a stock when it is near its 6 month high.

Market View - 11.Mar.2010

NYSE Percent of stocks above the 50 Day MA: 79%

Buy Aggressively
Buy Cautiously
Hold
Sell Cautiously
Sell Aggressively

(the highlighted option is my current sentiment)

With the above number, at 79%, I am changing my sentiment to start selling and locking in profits. I expect a pull back soon. The Markets are in in the stage of over bought levels. Next week will host options week, we will some volatility there.
I suggest you read this post for more details.

I would be very careful making new buys at this stage.....

Cheers!

I think we have done well so far. I like to believe that markets move in short term cycles. My systems helps me take advantage of these mini-cycles.

I have close by $TYH buy from 04.Feb.2010 at 30%+

As of 5 minutes ago I have moved to cash to lock in my profits. I think the market is over bought here. There is no need for us to take any risk at this stage. We shall wait tell things settle down. I am expecting a minor pullback soon.

Cheers!

Bought some short ETF DRV this morning on 19.Mar.2010 @ $8.72.

The reason being the bullish version of the same ETF DRN had the largest move in the last 20 days - 45%+.

Ideally I would have liked to short DRN, but I don't feel comfortable doing so yet.

New Approach

My market breadth system had already given me the signal that the Market was over bought.

Thus I ranked the 3x ETFs in terms of their one month performance. The numbers you see below are as of this morning (20.Mar.2010):

Symbol One_Month_Performance
DRN 44.48
FAS 32.67
TNA 27.83
EDC 27.26
MWJ 26.58

They were higher on Thu after close.

Thus I decided to go long the Bear ETF of DRN above which is DRV.

So far it has panned out well. Will have to wait and watch.

Have a Great Week-End!

This is going to be a difficult post to make. My current largest position is short.

But after looking at the numbers at close today, the recovery from Fri was decent.

The money flow was inwards.

My game plan is to watch the market closely for another day or two and if I see bullish trends continue I am going to go all in cash, YES!....I still do believe the market is over bought to enter here.

Cheers!

The numbers at the end of the day do not do justice to the days action. It was a very volatile day, with solid volume. Money seems to have trickled out.

I skipped a few heartbeats when my short position was almost 10% in the red, but it has recovered since then.

This might be the pull back I have been waiting for. It takes just a few days for the markets to re balance itself, which is usually very painful.

Cheers!
