Can’t help but admire your sense of humor.

We have lived with knowing it was coming since before we got married. I'm OK as she is OK, she is just a really weirdly buoyant person.

I thought start trading, make a ton of money just on the off chance a discovery would come in reach but at least she is taken care of. She seems to have mostly happy days, the PITA recently though with the loss of the last usable vision area is preparing food so its easy for her to eat.

But, getting used to that as well now.

Sux man. I had an aunt (she died just before X-Mas 2020) who went blind when she turned like 55 YO. It was fairly sudden I guess? Some serious form of cataracts and macular degen combo. So she lived the remaining 25ish years of her life blind.

I dunno' which would be worse...Living life with vision and then suddenly losing it, or not having it at all from birth so you do not know what you be missing. Bleh.

I can tell you that my aunt totally LOVED reading books, and when the blindness came she was an uberfan of audiobooks. She got them free from some government agency that deals with blind folks. Cannot recall which agency that is.

Gone well off topic, but the problem is for Spanish speakers is virtually all Latins hate the sound of Spanish from Spain (Castillian). In the Américas I hear them say the preferential order is Colombian, most neutral then Peruvian and Mexican Spanish.

A lot of ebooks are Spanish Spanish. Her main objection though is she likes the feel of turning pages and the smell of paper. She would not even buy a Kindle. Once she gets the swing of long form braille, we can print anything to a braille embosser on real paper.

Blindness seems to be a condition where you actually get some help. Thank God.

When someone loses a sense their other senses can sometimes heighten to make up for the loss. It might be worthwhile to try to introduce new scents and sounds to your living space. Like a ticking clock near a step or a flower arrangement near the utensil drawer. It could help her orientate and navigate the environment better. All of the best.
