Wall Street declines after reports on falling consumer prices, home construction

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street sank more than 175 points Wednesday, as investors, already nervous about the fate of the nation's top automakers, scoured more discouraging economic data.

Investors vacillated in early trading as they tried to hold on to gains achieved in the previous session, but gave way to more evidence that the economy remains in flux.

Well, to be fair.....all the perma-bears (like EMRGLOBAL, who was predicting a cataclysm this morning on this very thread) keep saying the same thing too.

All those who keep making worthless predictions (Dow's going to 14,000! Dow's going to 5,000!) are a waste of time. Traders trade what they see, not what they predict. Like surfers in an ocean.....they don't predict when a great wave will come, they wait and wait and then paddle hard to catch it once it shows up.

I was putting up articles about the housing industry falling apart in 2006, and ARMS and foreclosures hitting record highs, how can you say those are worthless predictions when everything fell perfectly into place.
