still using Tradestation 2000i ?

not sure where you're missing it... but your story doesn't quite fit. i have it on w2k and xp - no issues. i'd ditch w98 1st. it's just inherently poor compared to xp or even windows 2000.

2000i can be used easily...
i have IB + ts 2000i (and metaserverRT to connect data to globalserver)

works nice
vista and 2000i

I have seen that combo run - do you get screen-flicker on your intraday charts? I seem to recall seeing that problem with that setup.

As for 2000i, I have seen it run fine on XP, though that was running EOD scans. The only time I've seen it getting realtime data, I saw the charts flickering.

the flicker can be an issue yes, esp w/ futures. the 'fix' is to configure the symbol as an index or stock. i don't recall the specifics, but it was well known among users, and discussed on the esignal / tradestation forum

The 1st thing to ask would be, why are you so "stuck" on ts2ki?
Why not go to their new internet platform which has data on demand, tradestation.com?

What's the specific reason?

I would really appreciate some guidance on how to go about running 2000i on Vista. Are you using 2000i for trading or just testing? Are the computers dedicated. What about all the security issues? Thanks for any advise.
