No, it is not required..... You may use it fully dressed. I'd even recommend that, at least during winter...

I think that these post are starting to get way off of the original subject. But I need a new chair too. One that can be bolted down to the ground so I can't throw it when I get mad.

I also have the Herman Miller chair. Very comfy. Highly recommended.

Also, my monitors are on a raised platform and the middle of the monitors is about even with my eyes. After a lot of messing around with different setups, I have found that this is the most comfortable for me.
