Steve Wynn is right!

Quote from vhehn:

it makes wealth for him. not so sure about people who work for him:

During a conference call, Wynn said the company will reduce spending on everything from energy to floral arrangements if it results in preserving existing jobs and insurance benefits.

"Everybody makes a little less money but everybody keeps their jobs," Wynn said.

According to a written statement, the company plans to:

— Reduce pay for all salaried employees by 10 percent to 15 percent.

— Reduce workweek hours for full-time, hourly employees to 32 hours weekly.

— Suspend the employer match to 401(k) accounts.

— Eliminate 2009 bonus accruals.

All actions which will, of course, reduce jobs elsewhere.

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

Our American history has not shown that there is not great support by the community to help those in need during difficult times...
BTW....during "Katrina" it WAS NOT the feds that helped people in need RIGHT AWAY!

Ask "Katrina" victims who REALLY helped them out after all the destruction!

If we look at the REALITY of the blacks situation in this country, they should be burning down the various dysfunctional government institutions which have created highly destructive dependency throughout their communities. there is no other group which has been totally abused and treated like DIRT by this government more than the black community.....and that is totally unacceptable in my opinion. The sooner the black communities RUN FOR THEIR LIVES away from this government and their destructive programs the better imo!!!

After all blacks have had to go through in the history of the US, they deserve so much better than the current picture of their communities in many parts of the country.

Bravo!!!!!

I agree 100 %.

We sort the black people by income via projects. Kicked the black man out of the family house via welfare. The media sticks the microphone in Al Sharpton's face for an opinion, wtf? Is he the only face of black America? Cosby gets run out of dodge with his brown vs board rants. White money abandons any black leadership when blacks are elected to major city office. It is a joke.

Government doesn't create dependency any more than government creates in-dependency...

Quote from AMT4SWA:

That new question still does not in any way, shape, or form, change the problem of the federal option to be the cure for those type of situations. There will always be programs through local communities, churches, and charitable groups that if PROPERLY supported through current laws can be the ultimate local level backstop for those in need. NOT pelosi sitting in her hybrid L600h thinking about the next group she can "lock in" and DEPENDENT voters.......

are you sure about that?

Panic of 1893
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The Panic of 1893 was a serious economic depression in the United States that began in 1893. This panic is sometimes considered a part of the Long Depression which began with the Panic of 1873,[1] and like that of earlier crashes, was caused by railroad overbuilding and shaky railroad financing which set off a series of bank failures. Compounding market overbuilding and a railroad bubble was a run on the gold supply and a policy of using both gold and silver metals as a peg for the US Dollar value.

And let's not forget that that period was a time of massive protectionism in the form of tariffs and quotas, enforced by... yep, government. We flourished for lack of competition.

Quote from AMT4SWA:

Right....and that is a HUGE problem.

I think its more to do with the fact that the aggragate demand for goods and services isn't enough to employ as many people as go hunting for work. Sure they could get themselves educated to where we'd probably have more middlemen, lawyers, account executives, actors, musicians and minimum value adding functionaries to the workforce when what we need is engineers
which I'm sure you know are being graduated by China 10 fold to
what they are here. The ripple effect is like chaos theory where trying to condense its myriad cast over our economy in a thread is concerned. Think its bad now? The future holds all sorts of
possibilities for government esp. when you talk about infrastructure needs and beyond anything Obama has intruduced even. Some major natural disaster that might make Katrina look like your basement flooding would make alot of people suddenly find God. I don't know how things are going to get better esp. with everybody at each others throats the way they are. We need cooperation not competition.

Not really.....I have worked on and flown Boeing, McDonald Douglas, and Airbus aircraft. All these companies are tied into the aircraft and space programs industrial sector....heck most of the avionics suppliers are the same group who build controls for the space industry, etc.

They are all the same industrial/economic sector....very simple to see that.
