government has done a piss poor job of "protecting" private sector jobs lately. Trend is toward government work and that means control of your life. Entrepreneurial=Freedom.
I do not think some of you like freedom based on the comments.
You took the quote entirely out of context. You've twisted an argument for small Government, into an argument for NO Government. There's a difference.
America had very little Government from 1775 to early 1900's. AND IT FLOURISHED.
Who argued against patent enforcement? Or intellectual property laws?

As far as the Feds "protecting" jobs. Laughable. Free Trade with Asia and the abolition of tariffs decimated American manufacturing. But I suppose you'd argue that's a 'good thing'. Real incomes have been on the decline for over a decade. And this recovery is shaping up to be a "jobless" one...
The problem is TOO MUCH Government. They do more harm then good. Keep it small, lean, focused on individual, corporate rights, defense. That's it.

The Panic of 1893 was a serious economic depression in the United States that began in 1893. This panic is sometimes considered a part of the Long Depression which began with the Panic of 1873,[1] and like that of earlier crashes, was caused by railroad overbuilding and shaky railroad financing which set off a series of bank failures. Look - Wynn made a blanket statement, here it is from the Drudgereport, quoting the Rush Limbaugh transcript I read:

I think everything I wrote above blows that statement out of the water.
As for big, invasive gov't - I agree - I am against it. But don't make blanket statements using words like "never... in civilization's history."
Otherwise, those that are so anti gov't and are pro extreme liberterianism - you have the choice to move to Zimbabwe. Have fun. Tell me how it goes.

If we look at the REALITY of the blacks situation in this country, they should be burning down the various dysfunctional government institutions which have created highly destructive dependency throughout their communities. there is no other group which has been totally abused and treated like DIRT by this government more than the black community.....and that is totally unacceptable in my opinion. The sooner the black communities RUN FOR THEIR LIVES away from this government and their destructive programs the better imo!!!
After all blacks have had to go through in the history of the US, they deserve so much better than the current picture of their communities in many parts of the country.
to compare the plight of the blacks in the 50s and 60s to today is bordering on ignorance of history.

just keep building bigger and bigger casinoes in vegas, so that everyone knows you have the biggest hotel - THATS what creates wealth!

Somebody tell Mr. Wynn that the government employs more people than he, Chris or anybody else.
it makes wealth for him. not so sure about people who work for him:
During a conference call, Wynn said the company will reduce spending on everything from energy to floral arrangements if it results in preserving existing jobs and insurance benefits.
"Everybody makes a little less money but everybody keeps their jobs," Wynn said.
According to a written statement, the company plans to:
â Reduce pay for all salaried employees by 10 percent to 15 percent.
â Reduce workweek hours for full-time, hourly employees to 32 hours weekly.
â Suspend the employer match to 401(k) accounts.
â Eliminate 2009 bonus accruals.
