After all is said and done it all boils down to 2 basic principles:
1) "Buy low, sell high."
2) "Buy the rumor, sell the news."
Any of Toni Turner's books are a must read in order to keep a perspective on one's trading.

what are you a graduate of? You are going to lose your money no matter what road you take if you try to daytrade.
You could move to New York if you aren't already there and get a job on the NYSE as a runner. That is a good way for you to break in.
what's a runner?
a runner runs errands. Either for the NYSE or you can work for another company that has a seat or trades on the NYSE floor. Clerk/runner.
See if there is a job listed here that you qualify for.
