Stephen Hawking on human extinction

Which is why, if science indicates we should probably alter our technological processes in a "green" direction (which the world is doing, by the way, to the point that it's the fastest growing sector worldwide--sales which the US is largely missing out on), and that would of course incur (short-term) costs, thereby reducing profits (short-term), aka "liberty", you then oppose the... science. Preponderance of evidence? Bah! Who cares!? A single percentage point of doubt (whether a lonely, contrary opinion, or the fact that science has been wrong before) is enough for you, not only to stop the inquiry (waste of money, only "enriching" scientists), but to throw prudence to the wind (no pun), if it means you retain your "liberty".

You have no idea what you are talking about. There is not just 'a single percentage point of doubt' when comes to the actual numbers themselves. The errors bars on 100 year projections are so large that it is tempting to call it junk science. "Preponderance of evidence" is a legal term, it has no meaning in science where countless times previously science has overturned cherished models and theories. Your economics is also based on the discredited broken window theory. Plywood sales sure are hot just before a hurricane- doesn't make things good.

With that, I just said I provisionally accept that we have warmed and may warm some more. Science DOES NOT say what to do about it, that's where the communists step in and tell us what to do.

But of course, it's not your liberty, anyway. You're not in oil and gas (maybe you wish you were. No, it's actually my liberty. Yeah, I'm so hard done by, by all this regulation which, after centuries of relentless accumulation, has left my business.... still profitable, and all the B2B which follows and attends us, still profitable, and all the traders paying good attention to the commodity and sector... profitable.

Well no, not mine yet anyway until they go after my wallet. That's not the point here though is it- we are talking about the larger world and presumably we give a damn about more than ourselves. The left's full agenda has not been implemented so what is your point? Ask the coal people about their business and the backdoor efforts to put them down.

Yeah, fuck that egghead Hawking

More fine examples of the intellectual left with nothing to say, so lacking in critical thinking skills that anything which comes out of Hawkings "see-n-say" machine might as well be put into a hymnal.

LOL. So you don't subcribe to the fact that plants use CO2 and more CO2 makes them grow better.

OK, then. Any further discussion on the topic you can take up with the tree in my front yard.

…LOL…:D

This reminds me of that scene in “Idiocracy” … “But Brawndo’s got what plants crave…!”

Yeah… I’m sure there’s a little more to growing crops than an increase in CO2 levels! Projecting a future growth in crops based on an increase in CO2 is “speculative” at best… AND I’m being really polite here…!

GW is reality.

Another example of why I rarely pay much attention to new arrivals.

Not that there is anything wrong with being new to the site.

You make some good points in here, I'll have to try and get back to this. I'm on my way in to the office (some of us have to work for a living : ) . In the meantime, my edge is restored and I'm ready for battle again today. Thank you.

You are absolutely correct!

George Washington was a real American back when real men lived in this country.
