I wouldn't read too much into any one persons personal opinion of a candidate.We had any number of "smart" people that voted for Obama because of what they thought he would do (close Guantanamo, end the wars, end poverty, stop the seas from rising, eliminate inequality (ouch!), bring the country together, etc...), and most of them are disappointed, too.

Part of being "smart" is the ability to "figure things out".
I remember when the drooling cretins here laughed the history major out for not having a "real degree" like math or physics. And recently one member of that set, snarkhund, was challenging some to an IQ test, as if that were a big deal. But suddenly, it's not. Just admit it, if Hawking had supported Drumpf they'd be crowing with glee.
