When your field of discipline is cosmsological you aren't likely to see experimental results supporting your theories in your lifetime.

General relativity wasn't confirmed for decades after Einstein asserted his theory. Gravity waves, theorized as a result of general relativity, were only recently confirmed.

Its a bit difficult to check out black holes to confirm Hawking radiation... lol.
