Statistics - Smart, educated states are democratic, dumb states are not

Quote from Pabst:

Per CNN's exit polling conducted on election day, 2004:

Bush Kerry
Non-White Women (12%) 24% 75%

Totally bogus number in that you are not talking about quality of candidate here. You're discussing the racial slant on this one as it applies to the African American community. :)

The numbers are what they are. Both of us know that minority voters favor Democrats in overwhelming numbers. I would guess that African-Americans in higher income brackets vote Republican in higher percentages than those blacks who are poorer and/or less educated.

Would Uncle Tom vote for a republican, or a democrat?

LOL....

You equate new with always improved. Not every progressive action has brought change for the better. Of course one can mention the prohibition of slavery (Republicans), or women's suffrage (Republicans) or child labor laws (Republican) as evidence of progressives terminating injustice. However nuclear weapons was progress. The psychological treatment of can't be rehabilitated sex criminals in lieu of prison is progressive. Nations without borders is progressive. I mean c'mon. You rail non-stop about illegal immigration but is not the notion of "countries" regressive? Some traditional thought and mores are rubbish, some aren't. But to reduce political or ideological debate to a battle between regressive/progressive is shallow, eh?
Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz:

This thread is of course missing the point.

The issue at hand, is what actually constitutes intelligence.

Conservative, regressive, fundamentalist thinkers value conformity, religiosity, and traditionalism over new concepts, new ideas, etc.

Is this an indicator of intelligence, to vote for religion having a greater role in government than secularist thinking?

Is it an indicator of intelligence to prefer fundamentalist thinking, simply because that is the "tradition?"

It really boils do to red staters thinking that regressive thought is superior to progressive thought.

Given the arguments made by the conservatives are not an appeal to the intellect, but rather an appeal to fear, tradition, and status quo or reversion to a "better time" in America, one would have to conclude that intellectual curiosity, examining a variety of opinions to make decisions, abstract thinking, independent thought....are not the preferred method of the regressive and conservative redstaters...

I dare you to tell every African American in this country that 60% of all African Americans are assholes....

You can start out here in Comptons....

Quote from Pabst:

I dare you to call Charles Barkley "Uncle Tom".....

No, not all progressive ideas work out, but we can be assured that no new ideas will work out when the mindset is regressive, conservative, and non traditional...because there will never be any new ideas, and those that are suggested will never get a chance to take off the ground.

Stem Cell research anyone?

LOL...

Case in point. I was labeled "regressive" during the Congressional campaign because I have reservations on how the research is conducted. As an ideological opponent of abortion I'd prefer too not see abortionists further enriched by trafficking in assassinated fetuses. So if one approves of the science then the end justifies the means, eh?
