You guys on the right talk like it's been hundreds of years since there was full on legal oppression. Jim Crow ended 8 years before I was born, not back in the stone ages. With no generational wealth at all, it's hard to pull yourself out of a cycle of poverty, poverty breeds hopelessness and hopelessness breeds crime. I have had 5 adopted black brothers and sisters all except one who passed are doing very well in life. It's about how you are raised, but it's not as simple as 'you are less oppressed now go be successful'. Cycles are hard to as shit to break. I actually know people who think that if they were born in Iran the would have found their way to Christianity anyway, it's fucking insanity. I'm not saying I have any great answers as to how to fix it in the short term, but we broke it, we own it.
