This almost looks like spam for QT to me.

Your question is like saying: I'm going to be broke in 6 months and I need a job. What job do you recommend? What books software and hardware do I need for this job?

You do not provide any info really. The answer can only be a reflection of the quality of the question. Your question is nothing more than a lazy man's way of saying, "I want to make money trading. Tell me how to do it." It is not that simple.
 
About time somebody gives a decent answer.

QT is all you need if you want to keep costs down and to get the most out of your $. When starting out, I used this.

For an order platform, the best I've seen is J-Trader. Although currently I don't use J-Trader because my low cost broker doesn't support them.

Everybody has to start from somewhere. Hope it helps. :)
 
'gradyh' is right this is a dumb thread. But it was made so by he and his ilk.

It never ceases to amaze me how the forums can be so full of folks with nothing constructive to say.
Yet they willingly blather on endlessly
excusing their inability or unwillingness to help. And all the while blaming it on the other guy.

And (roberk) you can LOL all you like but it is one of the best & most reviewed there is. And Wizetrade is one of the worst - that's why I used them together - think about it.

And - No I am not shilling for QT. I have never used it.

I never said the child would know everything in 6 months.

Lets see if I can make this even clearer for the challenged:
I am not interested in why you can't figure out how to answer the question.
I don't care about your deep and verbose explanations of the insurmountable and innumerable variables that exist.
Either put your huge intellect into answering the specific question or look at some other thread.
I suggest that if you really have any real wisdom or knowledge this will be easy.
And if my defending the simple question -or- rebuking the twits offends you I apologize. Send me a PM and cuss me out if you like.
But *PLEASE* leave the thread alone unless you can play within the parameters laid out.

I'm not into bashing anyone here and I hardly ever reply unless I want to help. However, like I said we need some background. Something to go by. In your reply, you still don't provide that.

You can trade a vast number of products and combinations in a vast number of styles. You can trade equities, futures, currencies or all. You can scalp, swing trade, position trade, spread correlated products, trade ag commodities, metals, or even the weather. You can also be someone who is starting with $5k or $100k. What is recommended on any case has to be based on some inputs you provide.

Otherwise, I can simply tell you to buy SPY and QQQQ and wait or some such thing. I have nothing to lose. However, I'm interested in helping out. If this "child supporting the family" example is all you have, then I doubt you will get anything useful here.

Either way, I'm taking your advice and going to go follow another thread. :) I know someone else can help. Best wishes.

I said it was your child not "a child".
IE this is not a 10 year old.
I would have assumed you could figure out it was an adult child by the home bound.
Also I did not say he had to support his family...just help.

You guys (with one exception) remind me of my visits behind the iron and bamboo curtains (yep I'm that old). All so afraid of each other all you can do is pick a victim and gang up.

A year ago my wife went to a runners board, gave her age and details of her running, and asked for peoples experiences with specific shoes models that they found especially comfortable.

She was treated just the same way as this.
"Oh there are so many variables" yada yada...what crap. She just asked them if they could name a model of shoe they really liked.

Trying to cover their own asses because of the 'spirit' of criticism on the forum.

Just a moment of reflection will tell that the more smart assed the non-reply the higher the level of cowardice and the lower the level of intellect.
