I am all in favor of resistance. But let's be clear...for the average person without a massive following, posting on a message board or Facebook or whatever platform is a pathetic attempt at resistance as it accomplishes nothing. Participate or organize in a protest march. Volunteer for a Democratic House or Senate candidate. Give money to opposition candidates. Do something that will actually make a difference.
I agree in part, no use in flailing crazily. Personally I am involved in work to a help South Americans get a grasp on what is going on in the West. I'm helping fund a real documentary right now, not some internet garbage. The US is not a good friend, in reality it is a shitty ally to have, probably a parasite half the time with South America however this time will pass most are confident.
What is a concern is the spread of mini-Trump copycats into S.A. national politics. The public needs to be forearmed with contempt for these. Its not eactly like they don't understand the danger of populism however this is different in ways.
A gas-lighter like Trump tries to implant the idea in his target/victim that they have already lost, they have no fight left when they still have plenty. Vichy collaborator proxies like Tom B spread the word for him, they help make noise. They are insignificant men looking for attention and some crumbs off the table. There are a lot of these however.
All is just amusing claw sharpening for a bigger contest.
