My ES chart for the day (7/31/07)...

I'm just taking the VERY obvious trades - 10:10 short, 13:20 short, 14:15 short, and the 15:30 short. Definitely don't capture all the points in those moves, but don't want to get bogged down either watching p&l, so grab a couple points to keep me in pizza and get out. Typically each trade is in for only 10 or so minutes, so stress is low. Also , I'm only trading the dom traverses, also keeps stres low - for me anyways....
Nice how the 14:15 short stalled out again on my thick black CO channel. I guess that's how it's supposed to work, eh?

I'll plan to have the outline of the coming month's Tic Chart Discussion available for posting over the next day or two (or three 
). Until then, please note the attached document which should provide some input into what sort of Tic 'formations' (and I use the term 'formation very loosely here) we can expect to see, as well as, what other tools might also generate a signal during the same time frame.

Great illustration. I like how you have STR/SQU tied into the picture. If we added Depth of Market (DOM) into the picture, would there be a wall at 1142.0? Also is there a percentage rule of thumb for a wall? Like 40-50% difference between bid/ask volume?

My concern is that this tic "formation" is going to appear on any bar that closes several tics from its low. Of course, context is important but if we are anticipating an FTT, as in the attached example, I can imagine that this would encourage frequent false identifications and overtrading. The attached chart shows stretch, a wall on the DOM, ym FTT vol, and the tic "formation" but the net result was nothing like a turn. Ideally, as these new tools enable us to identify FTTs more quickly, it would help if they also reduced the liklihood of misidentification. Was this a case of "one that didn't work out" or are there other clues that would have avoided a reversal at this point?
