Wow. CALM on my dryup list today, went absolutely mad 20 minutes ago. Volume is strong, but the move and the volume both came post-11:30. The 30M chart suggested to me this morning that the share price was floating around the middle of the channel and thus didn't seem that interesting. It's now bumping up against upper trend line (the channel I have drawn is horizontal to slightly down). If it can break through the 24.0 level and sustain it, fair enough. Otherwise I reckon it comes off sharply as it did a few days ago.

Keep the chin up Susukino, not the best environment at the moment for JH method, but the sys should limit your losses and be ready for another run of the mkt!

I've been following Spydertrader's journals and reading the Jack Hershey materials for awhile now and I'm preparing to start trading this method in the near future. Many thanks to Spydertrader, Jack Hershey and all the others who have helped develop and explain this method.

I had a couple of questions (and I'm sure I'll have more to come) in regards to some of the recommended settings of Qcharts. How do you put the lines in MACD at .4 and -.4? Can this be put in automatically as an option or does it have to be manually added by searching the histogram for a close value and then adding and extended line at that point? Similar question: is there a way to automatically add a 50 line to the stochastic 5,2,3 in addition to the 80, 20 lines? And, the final question: how do I set my charts so they always have some empty space on the right side?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Manually add the lines using the various 'line draw' tools. Then save the individual chart as a default so you can import the settings in the future. You'll also have each new chart open in the same manner if you set the chart settings as default.

I use Qcharts 5.1x and I do not have this as an option. Later versions of Qcharts might have different options. Your mileage may vary.

Again, not on the Version of Qcharts I use. However, you could request such a feature on the Qcharts Boards (esignal.com), and someone may decide to add the feature. Qcharts doesn't appear to be nearly as responsive as the Medved's (Quotetracker) when it comes to feature requests.

Click on any white space areas in the center of the Price Pane. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the chart to the left. You'll always have white space available to you then.

Hey Spyder, thanks for the quick response. In regard to moving the chart to the left to create the empty space, do you have to do that every time you bring up a new chart? When I change stocks the chart automatically pops back over to the right edge. So I was wondering if there was a way to keep them locked showing space when you switch between stocks.

I thought I would share some info about the new Qcharts 6 version.

For everyone that is thinking about making the switch, you should consider the effects it will have on the culling process. Currently the $95 basic package of qcharts for the version 6 only allows 200 symbols at once. This is different from the prior versions which have unlimited symbol capabilities. When you upgrade to the version 6 it puts a quote symbol limiter of 200 on your data feed.

How is this a problem for people in the Hershey Camp?

If you cull the entire stock market using eoddata.com it presents a problem since you are filtering through 8,000+ symbols at this point. So if you upgrade to the version 6, you will no longer be able to do this due to the 200 symbol limit.

So what if you want to cull your "biglist" using Esignal's Qcharts version 6? Well their only solution up to this point is to up sell you on their more expensive package, which still limits you to 500 or 1000 symbols at a time. Is this a workable solution? No its not because the biglist is over 8,000 symbols.

I encourage everyone to call Qcharts ( Esignal ) and complain regarding the reduced functionality of your data feed with the new version.

I for one was excited when the new version was introduced but due to the nerfed data feed this is a real slap in the face to the consumer.

Hey Monkman.
I reported on this issue on another thread as well. I downloaded version 6 and was not able to cull in an efficient manner. Took me ages!! After doing it once I downloaded version 5 and it's so easy and quick.

For Hershey users it's best to stick to version 5. If you go to e-signal's website they explain why they decided to limit the number of symbols you can receive quotes on any given time. For them it makes business sense as the vast majority (98%+ or so) will never need to use their platform the way we do.

I'm not sure if they will budge but at least we can try!
