Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal

SpyderTrader,

Have you given any consideration in to using volume velocity as an exiting strategy to your trades? I only ask because of FORD the other day. It was absolutely sky rocketing, and as soon as the volume slowed down, so did the price, which from what i've read by Jack seems to follow the concept rather well, just on an intraday level.

I track volume real-time, and it's not very hard for me to figure out how much it's changing on a per-minute basis, or any other increment for that matter.

Any thoughts?

Can anyone point me to a post describing the significance of the host list again please?

Jack Hershey trades off his Hot List. We add any stock in the Hot List not currently in the Final Universe List to The Final Universe List. We then evaluate the entire Final Universe List looking for Stocks which find themselves "In Dry Up."

I must be missing something then, FORD must have produced a signal today... how come it wasn't mentioned in the review?

FORD was not In Dry Up today.

Then i don't get what you mean when you say Jack trades from that list. Do you mean he checks that list to see if they are in dry up only?

Thanks,

I mean this in a nice way... but if you don't understand what Spydertrader replied to you, I highly suggest you start from the beginning, read the entire journal, and read every link that he suggests in the second post of this journal...

Then you will get it.

edit - actually, might be better if you read all the links first, then the journal... the flow is easier that way.

Jack creates a daily Hot List and trades using that list. Jack also keeps a list of 'Tenured Stocks' and often trades these as well, even if they do not meet with his stated criteria for trading a particular equity. Keep in mind Jack uses his TC2000 equations for the creation of his lists and teaches how to trade using the stocktables.com method. For a more detailed explanation on Jack's technique, you may wish to review Jack's posts here in Elitetrader.com (Jack Hershey, Bubba7, and Grob109) or by reading Jack's old USENET posts archived at Google Groups. I have posted several links to additional background material at the beginning of the Journal.

Thank you both for your reply.

Smtrader, I appreciate the response. I have read all the material supplied, and every post in this journal more than once. This journal, however, is rather fragmented and some parts of it are confusing and contradicting, even when read the whole way through.

I'm not asking about the general principles of the system, I am asking specifically about this statement:

Jack Hershey trades off his Hot List

That to me says he watches it for signals everyday, which can't be correct, because as Spyder pointed out, it was not in dry up for today.

The reason I asked for previous posts about the Hot list is because I'm curious as to why the hot list is posted everyday, rather than just the DU list, which is what we trade off. I want to double check that I'm not missing some signifigance of it, other than indicating new stocks to our final universe.

Thanks,

The New Guy
